Central Heating
The central heating and hot water controls are located in the utility room. Please note that the central heating will not work without the hot water system also being on. Thermostats on each radiator allow for separate room temperature control. Please use the system as economically as possible making use of the various program options to avoid running the system when the cottage is not occupied.
Hot water
There is an immersion heater as an alternative to the central heating system that can be used during the summer months when it should not be necessary to use the central heating. The switch for the immersion heater is the switch with the red light in the kitchen between the sink & the outside door. Do not use the electric immersion heater if you are using the central heating boiler to heat the water. If you do use the immersion, please ensure it is switched off at the end of your stay.
Bathroom radiators
The bathroom radiators operate from either the central heating system or independently by electricity (which can be used in the summer months when it should not be necessary to use the central heating system). The mains switch for each radiator is located on the wall outside each bathroom. Do notswitch the electric switch on at the same time as the central heating system is being used. Please ensure that the valves connecting the radiators to the central heating system, located at the bottom of the radiator are closed during electric operation.
Wood Burning Fire
Please do not leave the fire unattended with the glass door open or the circular air control vent fully open. Additional kindling & logs are provided in the plastic box outside the patio doors – please help yourself. There is an instruction manual in this file regarding the operation of the wood burning stove.
Lighting Circuits
The lighting for the main living areas and bedroom is via lamps on a lighting ring system.
